21Sheeba/Leah - D21673

Female Dog aged Young Adult.

Meet Sheeba
3 years old
GSD Mix
Spayed Female
Dogs: Yes
Cats: No
Kids: Yes

Sheeba has been taking field trips to the park and training on-site! She loves training and brings really great energy to sessions.
She has been concentrating on building on her already great obedience foundations. She trains consistently around distractions and working with different handlers to assist with her easily going into a new home.
She has been doing really well with heeling! She needs extra guidance when we first enter a more stimulating situation, but quickly settles and is able to hold position with minimal reminders.
She sits quickly and downs nicely when asked. Occasionally she can need a second command to follow through. She can continue to work on offering more eye contact and check ins during training, but is doing progressively better each time.
She does really well holding stays at up to 30 feet and has been working on increasing duration she hold stays.
Recall she is doing well responding when called in low to medium distraction environments, but when distractions increase she can need additional reminders from long line.
Sheeba is very sweet and playful. She really enjoys going out on adventures and getting to be around different scenarios. She is social with people and dogs. She would do best in an experienced home with structure.

Female Dog aged Juvenile.

23Blouse
Female
Terrier/mix
10 mos. old
8 lbs.
Cats: Yes
Dogs: Yes
Kids: Yes 7+
Crate Trained: Yes
Potty Trained: In progress

Rosie is ready for adoption!
Rosie gets along very well with people other dogs and cats and children. She still a pup and needs to be supervised of course. She nibbles gently but with sharp teeth, she’s crate trained, but still needs work on potty training. We’ve brought her to just kibble which she loves, and we will give you a few days supply of it.
We were told that Rosie likes to try to escape, but we’ve not had that problem in our home but it would still be something to watch for.
Our biggest problems with her is potty training so she will need continued support and a schedule. She is also a dog that gets underfoot all the time so she is not suited for someone who would be worried about a tripping hazard.
She does loves a lap a night and a good cuddle.
She is just such a cutie and is looking for her forever home!

Pittie mix

Kids: Unknown but older may be ok
Cats: No
Chickens: Unknown
Crate Trained: Yes
Leash Trained: Yes but still a bit scared
Housetrained: Yes
Doesn’t this sweet girl get you in the holiday spirit? Her name is Genevieve and this 1-2 year old pittie girl has quite a story to tell. Genevieve came to one of our local shelters and shelter staff soon learned she was pregnant. A few days later she gave birth to one puppy. The next day she adopted 7 chihuahua puppies! Their 14 year old heart worm positive biological chihuahua mom was not producing milk and was very ill and not able to care for them. Genevieve adopted them as her own and did her very best to take care of all 8 puppies. They all came to a Foothill foster home and we hoped that their story would be a happy one. Sadly, none of the puppies survived. We believe they were premature, and even with supplemental heat and tube feeding they sadly passed one by one.
Genevieve was pretty depressed for a couple of days. But she slowly started showing her foster momma that she was ready to bounce back and started playing fetch! Soon she started playing with the other dogs in her foster home and now this girl is full of joy.
Genevieve currently lives with 4 other big dogs, males and females, in her foster home and does well with everybody. She loves to play. She’s potty trained and crate trained and sleeps quietly all night in her crate without a peep. In general she has good house manners and is low maintenance.
She has likely not had a lot of life experiences and new things can be scary. Her foster home has been working with her to see that things like neighborhood walks and car rides are fun! She’s learning quickly and is doing great. She needs a home that will help her continue to build her confidence and see that new experiences can be rewarding. She is a little shy and it took her a few days to warm up in her foster home, so her new family needs to know she needs some time to show her true self. She now loves the people in her foster home. We haven’t seen her with kids, but because she can be scared of fast and animated movements, we think older kids may be best.
Her foster home does not have cats but we think she may be able to live with a dog savvy cat.
Genevieve is just a joy to be around and we can’t wait to see her flourish in her forever home!

Ozzie is an adorable little guy that has been raised around chickens, sheep, llamas, goats and other dogs. No exposure to cats but isn't bothered chasing any of the farm animals so we guess he would be a friend to cats.
He loves kids and being around people. He is a fun, playful, wonderful family dog!
He is going to need a regular potty schedule to help him get fully house trained.
He is just the cutest bundle of lovin'!!!

23Socks - D231294

Female Dog aged Young Adult.

Meet Socks!
Spayed Female
11 lbs
1.5-2 years
Chi mix
Dogs: Yes, and needs another social dog to continue to build trust and confidence with people. Like sized dogs suit her best.
Cats: Yes
Kids: 13+ due to being shy/nervous around new people
Crate trained: Yes
Leash trained: Yes
Housetrained: yes, but mostly wants to go when on a walk

Socks was once the longest term small dog at the shelter. She can still be scared, nervous in new situations and with new people, but once she trusts you she is a doll. She will cuddle in bed, walk nicely on a leash, do zoomies and sit nicely for treats.

She needs a patient home that will read her nervousness and expose her to life without pushing her too hard. She is a lovely girl who does best when left kenneled next to another crated dog for comfort.

She’s learning about toys and will sometimes engage with them, but is still figuring them out. She should be with an experienced, patient dog owner who will read her needs and give her the love and support she requires and deserves. She’s been a treat to foster.

23Splash - D231203

Male Dog aged Young Adult.

🌊Adopt Splash!🌊
Neutered Male
Breed: German Shephard/Border Collie mix
Approx. 1.5 yrs, 46 lbs.
Kids: great with kids over the age 12. Has done really well meeting younger kids, but can still have some puppy mouthiness.
✅Dogs: yes, but can be reactive on leash
Cats: No. He does chase the resident cat.
✅House Trained: Yes, on a schedule
Crate Trained: In progress.
Leash Trained: In progress. He is getting better about walking on the leash.

Splash came to us from the Merced County Animal Shelter where he was sadly going to be euthanized due to space. This handsome boy is a joy to have around. He plays great with all resident pups he has met. He really thinks that he is a 46-pound lap dog. Splash loves to climb into your lap and just lay there.
He has done wonderfully with teens and has met smaller kids out and about and has done awesome! He has been in the crate for about 6 hours. He sleeps on the floor by his foster mom's side of the bed. He loves to ride in the car. He does test his boundaries but will refocus with verbal correction.
Splash will do really well with an active family and would do well with a buddy pup to play with and be mentored by. He does need a big area to run. He has been a great addition in our home and will make a great family pet!

23Vacaville - D231279

Male Dog aged Juvenile.

**Will not be at the Saturday Adoption Event, Private Meet and Greets Only**

We are looking for a home with a resident mentor dog for Vacaville to learn from and socialize with.
Meet Vacaville! This guy is an 16 week old, Heinz 57 mix. With him being some part chihuahua, we are estimating he will be around 10/15 pounds when full grown.

Let’s start with all the good! Vacaville in incredibly social. And extremely friendly. It’s very important that his adoptive family continue to expose him to new stimulation, situations, and people to turn this guy into a well socialized adolescent. He absolutely loves playing with other dogs, and has been exposed to well behaved smaller, medium, and larger dogs. Having a resident dog(s) who will be a playmate as well as mentor is extremely important. He is very much so a dogs dog, and truly loves to play. Especially playing chase, and for a guy with little legs he is speedy! He does get along with cats, and does try to play with our resident cat. Meaning a dog savvy cat would be best for Vacaville. And the cherry on the top, is Vacaville is smart and is food motivated!

Now the things that are still a work in progress! Vacaville is about 95% puppy pad trained. Our resident dogs use doggy potty bells, when they need to go the bathroom and Vacaville is starting to catch on to what thats all about! Having a set routine will be very important for his potty training. Similarly having an adopter who is willing to work with him through crate training is important. And will benefit his potty training as well. While Vacaville may be extremely cute, he has sharp little teeth. He responds very well to re direction with a toy, and aims to please. While he has a very good disposition, being a small teething puppy is something to keep in mind with kiddos. And at times he likes to show off how tiny he is by getting under foot. Vacaville absolutely loves being outside adventuring, and seeking new things out. With that! He likes to play catch me if you can, when it’s time to come inside. Just doesn’t want the fun to end.

Overall he is an incredible puppy, and has something special about him. Head on over to fill out an application for this guy.

If interested, we recommend submitting an adoption application at: www.foothilldogrescue.org

Our puppy adoption fee is $350 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card) and includes spay or neuter, DAPP and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, microchip, heart worm test and lifetime registration.

23Visalia - D231278

Male Dog aged Juvenile.

**Will not be at the Saturday Adoption Event, Private Meet and Greets Only**

We are looking for a home with a resident mentor dog for Visalia to learn from and socialize with.

This cutie patootie is Visalia! He is 16 weeks old, and while we are unsure on his exact mix we are estimating when full grown he will be 10/15 pounds.

Visalia is a confident, happy go lucky, friendly puppy! And hasn’t met a dog he hasn’t liked. Visalia is a big fan of two things! Playing chase, and when dogs get down to his level to play. And even better, playing with both a toy and another dog. Having a resident dog, or even a few in his adoptive home is an environment he will thrive in. Cats don’t phase him at all! But he is a puppy, so if an adoptive home had a cat, one that is dog savvy would be best suited for mister Visalia. While Visalia has a great disposition for being around tiny humans, he is a teething pup. Having an abundance of teething toys, and positive human redirection to a toy works very well for him.

Potty training is going very well! He is getting close to completely puppy pad trained, and is starting to signal when he needs to go the bathroom. Crate training is more so of a work in progress. Having meals in his crate, is the key! He loves his snacks :)

Visalia is happy to entertain himself with a toy, or kong/teething ring etc as long as he knows you’re nearby. He isn’t super snuggly, but enjoys taking a nap close to a human or with another doggy.

Overall! Visalia is an incredibly sweet puppy, with a great calm disposition. Fill out an adoption application if you’re interested!

If interested, we recommend submitting an adoption application at: www.foothilldogrescue.org

Our adult dog adoption fee is $350 (with $5 processing fee if paid by card) and includes spay or neuter, DAPP and Bordetella vaccines, deworming, microchip, heart worm test and lifetime registration.
